Petition Title:
Demand Stronger Penalties for Animal Abuse in Egypt

Petition Body:

To:
Egyptian Parliament,
Ministry of Agriculture,
Ministry of Environment,
General Organization for Veterinary Services,
And all concerned authorities

We, the undersigned, stand together as citizens of Egypt and global supporters of justice, to demand urgent reform of Egypt’s outdated and insufficient animal protection laws.

Every day, innocent animals across Egypt suffer from neglect, violence, and torture—and the perpetrators often walk free with no more than a small fine or a short sentence. This is not justice. The current penalties under Articles 355 and 357 of the Penal Code, which offer only months of jail time or a fine of EGP 200, are no longer acceptable.

We demand:

1. A full review and amendment of animal cruelty laws.

2. Harsher penalties—including longer prison sentences and heavier fines—for anyone found guilty of abuse.

3. Recognition of stray and companion animals as sentient beings under the law.

4. Enforcement mechanisms to ensure these laws are implemented effectively.

5. Support for animal rescue organizations and public education about animal welfare.

Cruelty to animals is not only immoral—it is linked to broader violence in society. A nation cannot rise in compassion while ignoring the suffering of its most vulnerable.

We call on the Egyptian government to act now. Strengthen the law. End the cruelty. Be a voice for the voiceless.
