Release Alushta Aquariums Alligator snapping turtle, captive for 20 Years!
The Issue
In Alushta Aqua Park, located in the Crimea Republic of Ukraine, an Alligator snapping turtle is held captive in a tank that measures only 1200 liters, as evidenced by their posts on various social media platforms. Despite the aqua park's belief that this size is suitable, this condition fails to meet the basic requirements for the health and well-being of such a large and magnificent creature.
Alligator snapping turtles can grow to be over 2.5 feet long and weigh more than 200 pounds. These magnificent creatures deserve an environment that mimics their natural habitat, which is impossible in such confined spaces. Living in cramped conditions can cause severe physical and psychological stress to the turtle, affecting its growth, behavior, and overall health. Rehabilitating and eventually releasing this turtle into a suitable natural habitat can help restore its health and allow it to live as nature intended.
The goal of this petition is to urge Alushta Aqua Park to work with local wildlife experts and conservationists to create a responsible plan for the turtle's rehabilitation and eventual release into the wild. Educating themselves on the proper care of such species can also set a precedent for other facilities that may face similar issues.
Supporting this cause not only emphasizes the importance of humane animal treatment but also reflects a commitment to biodiversity and the natural world. Let's show that compassion and responsibility towards our shared environment can indeed make a difference.

IMPORTANT UPDATE:::
We've now received powerful insights from two vital sources in our movement:
In Poland, when public attention builds around a controversial case involving animals, it's sadly common for those animals to "disappear" under mysterious circumstances.
Later, it's revealed they were euthanised or removed quietly sometimes even used as tools in power plays. In Crimea, to avoid further scrutiny. Too much public pressure can put this turtle's life in danger.
As another international group confirms that Crimea has almost no legal protection for captive animals. Even when abuse is visible, no laws are being broken and some well known groups has no legal authority to intervene.
This means one thing: If we go in too loud, too hard we risk triggering retaliation against the turtle.
We must now be smart, protective, and strategic:
Raise awareness gently without causing public uproar in hostile areas.
Avoid tagging or naming locations too directly in comments or captions.
Focus on education and connection. Not confrontation. protection over protest.

We are shifting from rescue rage to sacred protection.
Let's not accidentally sign this turtle's death warrant through good intentions. se Instead, let's become her guardians.
Every word we post is either a shield or a sword. Choose wisely.

We aim for peaceful dialogue and a positive resolution grounded in international welfare standards.
However, should any harm come to the turtle currently in captivity, we will consider launching a formal international petition to call for the closure of the Alushta Aquarium. We would prefer cooperation over conflict, guardianship over grievance.
Please let this message be received in good faith and responsible partnership.
