This is about so much more than the handful of young people who may get drafted to play for their home team. This is about hope that we can be a progressive and exciting community in which to live and work. Kill this opportunity off and watch the mass exodus of our future tax paying young people leave when they will know once and for all that there is little hope for them in this welfare-ridden basket case of a state. Watch also as a fair few of us older tax payers follow suit.
This stadium is not just for us now, it's for the next generation and the generation after that. It will change Tassie for the better and set the Devils up for the best chance for success.
It’s about providing benefits for Tasmania, not just football, but the economy and employment for many decades to come - construction, hospitality, accommodation, transport, airlines, retail and much more. It also makes Tasmania complete all States being involved in a National competition. At last an opportunity to not be left off the map. Make it happen.
Tasmania needs their own AFL team and without a quality stadium in its capital city it won’t happen it’s the right place for it at MAC point and the benefits it could provide could be a great asset to the state and provide many an aspiring junior footballer with dreams of becoming an AFL player from their home state and also being able to support their team also the many other concerts and functions not to mention employment and economic benefits as well just get it done I for one along with my family will travel to games from the North of the state
It has been a life long dream to watch Tasmania play in the AFL. An AFL team will have enormous social and economic benefits. To achieve this an inner city stadium is required. This is what the expert taskforce report said. Mac. Pt. Isn't perfect, but it's the best site.
Let's finally have not only a new stadium but having our very own AFL team, an opportunity for our kids to play on the big stage and be proud to play in our very own state! Not to mention all the jobs that will be available and boost our economy and draw hundreds of thousands of tourists into our state! It's time, it's our time to have our own club in what is a national sport, not just a mainland game!
Imagine being the parent of a child debuting for Tasmania and watching them kick their first AFL goal at Mac Point, after coming through reinvigorated junior programs with our entry to the AFL. Make those frozen mornings at Junior Footy worth it. Let’s make it a reality.
I’ve grown up playing club footy and have always loved watching the afl on tv,
To be able to actually go to the footy live and support my home state would just be awesome. Also it’d be good for bringing in concerts and stuff which Tassie misses out on a lot of the time but having this stadium will help us instead of travelling interstate.
