SYDNEY SWANS FIVE STILL IN CONTENTION FOR BROWNLOW!

The Brownlow Medal is a best and fairest for honour for on-field efforts - it should also only go to players behaving with honour and integrity away from the football ground.

The AFL has confirmed the men at the centre of the Sydney Swans Pullman Hotel sexual assault allegation and connected incidents are not invited to attend the Brownlow Medal awards night but they can still be in contention for medal.

Isaac Heeney, Nick Blakey, Chad Warner, Riley Bice and James Jordon have been stood down by the Sydney Swans for breaching the club's standards on drinking and staying out late after a win over Essendon last week.

Heeney, Warner and Blakey all have spots on the Brownlow leaderboard and Bice and Jordon may also get votes

Police from Victoria's sexual crimes squad are investigating reports of sexual assault but no one has been charged. 

Chief executive Andrew Dillon said the AFL would not conduct enquiries into the incident in Melbourne until after the police investigation finishes.

He told media players would not be invited to the Brownlow Medal ceremony but remained eligible for the award.
The event is held on the Monday before the grand final.
