It is unacceptable to celebrate this holiday. ruzzia kills Ukrainians every day—civilians—committing war crimes, executing and torturing prisoners of war. This so-called "celebration" is cynical, disgusting, and inappropriate!

The Russians are killing the Ukrainians since 2014. Since that time at these celebrations, the Russians fuel their haterage to all Western democratic values, shouting out the slogan "We can do it again!", threatening war on anyone who disagrees with Putin's imperial military policies. These gatherings on May 9 under the bloody Russian flag is a very important part of the Russian propaganda of war against NATO and Democracy. It’s inappropriate to allow them to get together and to promote their antidemocratic narratives and values. Russia is a terroristic state for more than 3 years committing the genocide of the Ukrainian people - raping, torturing, kidnapping, killing… Being originally Russian, the Muscovite, I beg you to forbid these propagandistic events.

Our family is absolutely appalled by what is happening in our community today. How it is even possible that someone is supporting the country terrorist, Russia. My family lost a member due to their terrorist war,. Please, stop their madness and propaganda in Canada!

Because this is not a holiday, it is a day of mourning, then and now, when many Ukrainians and children are dying. Canceling this event is indecent

On May 9th, a “Victory Day” event will be held at Burnaby Hall — a Soviet legacy celebration. This so-called victory cost millions of lives during WWII and is now used by Russians to glorify war. It’s especially disturbing as Russia is currently waging a brutal war against Ukraine. As a Ukrainian, I cannot stay silent in the face of such hypocrisy.

Это не праздник, это издевательство над украинским народом, в то время когда люди погибают в Украине каждый день от того что русский мир пришёл их убивать

As an American, I stand firmly with Ukraine and President Zelensky. His bravery in the face of such adversity is nothing short of inspiring. It’s disheartening to see him treated with such disrespect when he's fighting for his country’s freedom and sovereignty. I believe in the values of democracy, freedom, and human rights, and I’m proud to show my support for Ukraine during this critical time. We must stand by those who fight for what is right. #StandWithUkraine
