I don’t think that it’s nice to the students or to the teachers to make them change from a high performing school (McCoy) to a low performing school (Landry). At least let LEAP go to Las Colinas EL, Rosemeade EL, or Kent EL. The reputation of the program is going to go down if it gets housed in an underperforming campus like Landry. Also, Perry MS is such an amazing middle school and the Leap program should remain at Perry since the Perry campus is continuing. The Fine Arts, athletics, robotics, leadership, teachers, and administrators at Perry is what the LEAP children want and deserve.
McCoy was my 2nd home for nearly 6 years, and is the best environment I've ever been in. It shaped who I am, and I simply refuse to see it shut down. The LEAP program, teachers and students alike, are like family. I just can't believe CFB is even considering taking away this wonderful safe haven from us. I will not stand for this. And as for relocating LEAP, I don't understand why this would happen. We are living our best lives at McCoy and Perry, and CFB cannot take that from us. No one can, so leave McCoy, Perry and LEAP alone.
I have been in many, many, schools in CFBISD. (For example, La Villita, McCoy, Landry, and now Perry) and I haven't grown fonder to ANY other school---- except the LEAP program. Why are we changing it now?? Close the centers, the other Elementary schools, middle schools, but why relocate LEAP? We have been here since August 2024, and I have been in the LEAP program since 2022. In these short years I have had many, many opportunities I wouldn't have had in Barbara Middle School. Even though I live closer to Barbara, Perry is my home.
McCoy Elementary has been a home away from home for me, as I've been there since Kindergarten. LEAP has also been our home, and I've made so many memories here in the LEAP program. We aren't going down this easily.
I have been in LEAP since Kindergarten, and my experience in this extraordinary program has been exceptional! The teachers and curriculum were great, and the experiences I had with other peers and teachers are unforgettable! Even going through COVID didn't ruin the experience for me! We have gone through hard times, and good times, but it doesn't feel like the right time to move LEAP. We have grown up together, and have formed bonds with each other and our teachers. We have had a great time, and we would prefer not to go to Barbara Bush.
I don’t want leap to go because i have friends in leap that have been there for me since day 1 and losing them just because they are in leap just doesn’t make sense.
While I was only at McCoy for one school year, it is easily the best school I have been to. I felt like I could really connect with other students in this school. And why relocate the LEAP program. Just because BBMS is not highly rated, does not mean kids like us should have to pack our bags and move to another school.
