i simply hate to see other young women like me get attacked, or sent off into dangerous situations. you're doing such a good thing and im so happy you're speaking up about this.
I was followed home at night. I was lucky that I was unharmed. I have a constant fear of being attacked by men. I remember theaters and bars taking my pepper spray without being able to get it back, just throwing it out, not even able to pick it up when I leave. NY needs to help protect women and girls and enabling the use of pepper spray legally is a must.
On February 22, 2024, I lost who I thought would've been my future wife to a monster who thought he could get away with attacking and murdering an innnocent sweet angelic girl. The experience changed me, the way I see women and their experiences, and what I hope to do with my life forever. This is just the latest story in seeing how the world doesn't care about women at best and actively wants to kill them at worst. This is only a part of why I support this cause. Legalize the sale of pepper spray in NY now and forever.
I went to school with Michael, have known him over 30 years. He's kind he deserves a second chance. Nobody deserves to sit in prison this long or even be in for defending themselves!
Not fair that in any article outside of change.org there are mentions of the older man being a vet but they don’t extend the same curtesy to my brother, nor do they explain the man’s history with dui. We lost the initial narrative and I believe they specifically left those pieces of information out of the media to paint my brother as another “violent black man” who was “out of control”
Elvin should still be here.
He should still be laughing with us, planning his future, living his life. But he’s not. Because one person couldn’t control their anger behind the wheel—and because our laws didn’t do enough to stop it.
Elvin was killed in an act of road rage. It wasn’t just a tragic moment. It was violence. It was a choice. And it was murder.
We are speaking out now not just in pain, not just in grief but for justice. For Elvin. For everyone who’s been lost to road rage. And for every life we can still save.
Right now, in too many places, road rage isn’t treated seriously enough under the law. These acts are often brushed off as “aggressive driving” or “incidents,” when in reality, they are criminal acts that should be prosecuted to the fullest extent. People are being threatened, hurt, and killed and it needs to stop.
We are calling on lawmakers to act.
We demand stricter penalties for violent road rage incidents.
We demand legal reforms that recognize road rage deaths as what they are: murder.
We demand better systems to report and track aggressive drivers before it’s too late.
Elvin’s life mattered. His story matters. And if his death can lead to change that saves even one more life, then we have to speak up now.
We’re not just mourning. We’re fighting. Fighting for accountability. Fighting for safety. Fighting so no more families have to get a call like the one we did.
Say Elvin’s name. Share his story. Demand action.
Help us turn pain into purpose. Help us change the law so no one else has to lose someone they love to road rage ever again.
I lost a sibling and I can’t even imagine how this family feels, no one deserves to be taken away so soon, and no one here on earth is god, you don’t decide who lives or dies, but I hope you make the right decision about this young man.
