Honestly, students should be allowed to express themselves through their hair. It’s such a harmless way to show personality and creativity. Hair color or a unique cut doesn’t affect someone’s ability to learn or respect others. If anything, letting students be themselves builds confidence and makes school feel like a more accepting place. As long as it’s not hurting anyone, why should it matter?

Uniforms are just a way for schools to pretend they’re fixing things while ignoring the actual problems. Want some? It does depend on your country, but a guarantee alot of these do count. FIrst off, clothes are a way to show personality, to express YOU. Having uniforms kills this wonderfull freedom. You may claim it could stop bullying... No, that is wrong. That's like putting a band-aid on a zombie bite. I, and dozens of other kids can speak from experience, it will not help. Also, Dress code enforcement gets real weird real fast. Some schools target girls more for “immodesty” or punish certain hairstyles that come from different cultures. Uniforms don’t remove bias—they just give it a uniform to hide behind.
This took me a bit to write and i really hope this has an impact. Kids need to learn to be creative, and to be themselves. This will be a mistake, and it will certainly not increase school spirit like you may think. Please, listen to your students.
earrings are not effecting our learning, facial hair does not effect our learning, coloured hair does not effect our learning, hair out does not effect our learning. This school cares more about your uniform then your wellbeing. I was waiting to get onto my bus and a teacher was yelling at a girl also catching the bus to put her blazer on or she is not stepping out of the gate to get home. Also school starts at 8:40, our phones arent allowed to be seen past 8:20 which does not make any sense or even to pay for food at the canteen. Every past year we are able to have our hair out, this year because of the new principles we have to have it back which does not show our individuality. Teachers tell us to be ourselves but then have these overly strict guidelines we are expected to follow so we are copies of eachother. this school also does not care for bullying and is very unhelpful when you need help or support.
We fully support this petition and share the frustration many in the community are feeling. The recent policy changes have shifted the school away from being a welcoming and inclusive place. Rules like the strict phone ban are unfair and out of touch—phones are a part of daily life and can be used responsibly. AirPods and headphones are also essential, especially when teachers set videos or online tasks and expect us to complete them without giving proper resources to do so. The rules around earrings, makeup, and even hair are also unreasonable. We should be allowed to wear makeup, earrings, and have our hair out—it’s a basic form of self-expression and confidence. These things don’t disrupt learning; they help students feel like themselves. A school should help kids grow, not restrict who they are. We believe Corpus should focus on mental wellbeing, open communication, and a balanced approach—not strict rules that push students and families away.
As someone who has attended this school for multiple years. I have realized that this school over time has become extremely strict for no appropriate reason. The phone rule since year 7 was fair and reasonable until now. Students' use of phones in class may inhibit full attention but not whole attention, and I think that the teachers and higher-ranking staff in the school, should improve the quality of teaching in the classroom, and if that hasn't helped then address the phone as a possible issue. Im not saying all classes have a poor quality of teaching however some teachers can't attend to some students' needs in classes and this can not allow a student to fully understand the concept of the work they’re doing.
Once these issues have been attended to and there has been no positive change in the students learning then perhaps we can look into the phone as being a primary issue. I also feel the need to address the no AirPods rule, as AirPods for most students dont necessarily take away the attention from learning but can block unwanted distractions from other students or the environment around them. Airpods can also be used to help with mental health issues. Although I dont personally use Airpods for this reason, I’m aware of the fact that there have been people that use them for mental health reasons.
While im not necessarily saying that phones help the ability to learn in class, I am saying that the new phone policy is not appropriate for the reasonings the school has provided and some of these reasonings they use are extremely exaggerated
It isn't okay to restrict students from being themselves, as mental health is a serious problem at CCCHS.
The students are being pulled up on their uniform and if earrings are a literal millimetre bigger they get reconnections and singled out and made an example of, ultimately making students with anxiety feel even worse. Depression and anxiety, along with other mental health problems are a major factor that impacts how children feel and it can alter someone's life, and teachers and other higher ranked people are bullying students into wearing blazers and conforming to a cult like uniform standard.
Over my years at CCCHS i have been discrimanted against, and targeted by teachers for no apparent reason. Because of this I have suffered from many issues which has impacted my life inside and outside of school. The rules truly cause more harm than good. Teachers have sent me to the office for no reason, threatened to make me leave the school, swore at me and dismissed the issues they create when Ive tried to stand up for myself. The school preaches about individuality and being yourself but truly it is a cult like mentality, designed to make everyone the same. They tell people that its to make us equiped for a future job. 86% of teenagers are employed and most jobs don't force you into such strict guidelines. we are hear to learn not to be nuns and preists.
This school is becoming more and more like a cult each day. They tell us to be ourselves because God created us to be unique. How can we do that if we're being pulled up for the smallest things? Jewelry doesn't affect our learning. Hair and facial hair do not affect our learning. How can we be ourselves when you won't let us? I've done everything that the teachers have told me to do, yet they still find ways to pull us up on the tiniest things. ill take my airpods out when you can control your classroom.
I suffer from autism(low level) and extreme anxiety, this is really quite stress inducing and my parents find it hard to manage . I don't want to be a burden to my family but these rules are just way too strict. -Bob hefly
