SBA loans are critical financial tools for small businesses seeking to grow and thrive. These loans, backed by the U.S. Small Business Administration, provide access to capital that may otherwise be difficult to obtain through traditional lenders. Recent trends show an increased demand for SBA loans due to economic challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Key issues and themes in SBA loan petitions include calls for increased funding for small businesses, streamlined application processes, and expanded eligibility criteria. One noteworthy petition urges policymakers to allocate more funds to the SBA to support struggling businesses during the pandemic.

How can ppp loans be forgiven for large companies. But small one owner business have to pay debt for the next 30 years? We were forced closed by COVID!
I took this loan to try and keep my business alive but because everything was shutdown we lost all business.
If the country never shutdown we would have been fine and the mega corporations were able to forgive their PPP loans.
Small businesses needed the help the most and we are left drowning in debt while also losing our livelihoods. Please consider forgiving these loans so that we can move forward without constant extreme anxiety wondering what will happen and how we will ever pay back the money now that we are barely scraping by.
The SBA EIDL loans were crucial for businesses at a time when many were shut down or barely operational due to the pandemic—this much is widely recognized. However, fewer people acknowledge that for many companies, the struggles didn’t end there. Supply chain disruptions, soaring cargo and shipping fees, and rampant inflation made simply staying in business incredibly difficult, let alone turning a profit. For some, it has taken years to even approach a sense of normalcy, and for others, that stability still hasn’t returned.
This is why I believe there’s a strong case for forgiveness or compromise on these loans. The government provided PPP and ERC funds as 100% forgivable support, based on the same core principle as EIDL loans: to keep people employed and businesses afloat. Given the extended challenges and financial burdens that followed, a similar approach of forgiveness or at least compromise seems fair and necessary for the businesses that took on EIDL loans to survive.
My business failed despite the eidl loan so without that income I was struggling to pay it back and now I have just had a stroke so I am off of regular employment as well and have no chance of paying this loan off at this point.
I took the EIDL loan because I thought it would help save my business. It did for awhile until inflation got so bad that I lost a significant amount of customers and finally shutdown the business this year. It was a very difficult decision to close my business after 25 years. Now at 71 years old I am barely hanging on. My rent has increased by $600 mo. Please help. Share some money you are giving to illegal aliens, Ukraine, and student loans, funds that you just gave to China for a rail system. China caused COVID-19 in the first place and then sent it to the USA. I filed for hardship but I still struggle. I posted a link to this petition to X, SenateGOP, RFKJr, Ted Cruz, Marsha Blackburn, Trump.
I am one of the people affected by this issue. I waiver on my support of this petition because yes, I did sign the loan documents and as somebody who wants to act honorably paying it back is the right thing to do. However, when we took out these loans we were not living in normal times. We were terrified, our businesses were failing and we were afraid for our health and safety. Why? Because the government shut down the country and told its citizens that we should be afraid. Fear is what drove me to take out the loan and honor drives me to want to pay it back--but things have not gotten better. In my case they have gotten much worse. I have had to stop paying on the loan as even the 50% hardship payment is beyond my capability. If I want my children to eat, at least. Having this hanging over our heads is debilitating and we need help.
I had to close, but still pay rent etc. bill then increased due to inflation and high interest rates completely extinguishing the S.B.A. loan. Mom and pop shops like myself had to close while the big boys took over the market. I had to close, find a new job and now there is no way for me to make the monthly payments. Covid EIDL Scam.
The PPP program was not set up to help small businesses being shut down during COVID. It was meant to help retain employees.
The problem is, there were many small businesses like ours, even seasonal ones that had huge expenses but not a large payroll. Therefore, the PPP grants did not adequately cover the costs of staying in business.
In our case, the government shut us down in the beginning of our season and now we are paying the government back with interest! Is this fair? No!
I have written to my representatives but nothing happens and this large loan we took out with just a few strokes on the computer, is really affecting our ability to continue doing business. It is maddening!
