I would hardly call a restaurant chain making over $600M a year a “small business.” The Payroll Protection Program was created to provide emergency low interest loans to SMALL businesses in situations like the COVID-19 pandemic to keep them afloat.

The restaurant chain Fiesta Restaurant Group owns hundreds of franchises and took a total of $15M in PPP loans in addition to their $10M. My parents’ restaurants’ application was still undecided when the funds ran out— the restaurant, Rice Boxx, is our only source of income. We are struggling right now.

As the PPP loans process, we are now seeing larger businesses that maintain close relationships with banks receive this needed money. You might not see that favorite restaurant of yours open back up again after this quarantine. Sign this petition to demand Fiesta to return the money and help so many other SMALL business stay open. The fact that our government has allowed for companies like these to take so much money is frankly offensive and horrifying. Please stand in support of other small businesses that you love. Tell Fiesta we refuse to stand with them until they return the money.
