The topic of saving trees is crucial as deforestation poses a significant threat to our environment and biodiversity. Recent trends show an increase in petitions calling for the protection of forests and the sustainable management of tree resources. Key issues include illegal logging, clear-cutting, and habitat destruction, with petitions advocating for stricter regulations and conservation efforts.
Notable petitions have gained traction, such as one urging for the preservation of old-growth forests to protect endangered species and combat climate change. Another petition calls for an end to deforestation in key regions like the Amazon Rainforest, highlighting the urgent need for action to prevent irreversible damage.
Join the movement to save our trees by supporting these petitions and raising awareness about the importance of preserving our forests. Your involvement can make a tangible impact on forest conservation efforts and help ensure a greener future for generations to come.

Please do not continue with the proposed George Snyder Trail in Fairfax City. Our waterways and watersheds are already so degraded and imperiled, that we need to protect them more, not harm them more. The idea of building a trail through a riparian buffer goes against all research for improving water quality. I cannot imagine the destruction and irreparable harm this will cause to animals, plants, and soil in the area if it is constructed. Please do not build this trail. Especially since there is a viable, already impervious system of trails for transportation in place.
For the 28 years we have lived in Mosby Woods, Fairfax City has been a lovely oasis in the DMV. Recently, partisan politics have upended the loveliness. After a number of stream renovations have been executed, the most recent effort is a total disaster. The soothing woods that welcomed residents and guests is now gone on one side. What a travesty. Over 500 mature tress gone forever. Who thought that was a good idea? Now, City Council is being pressured to make the other side a travesty ... removing over 600 mature trees, and more. There are existing, safe routes for cyclists and walkers already in place that do not required exorbitant spending and ecological devastation. This must not happen ... again.
Signature trees belong to signature places. They construct an identity to their locations and effect generations of people that enjoy their presence. Unlike the fluctuations of the built environment, you can’t simply put them back once they are moved.
This project is badly needed. The sidewalks today are hazardous when it rains, water pools and you get splashed as you walk along and crossing the street is unsafe in many locations.
