Pickleball is a growing sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton, and ping-pong, played on a smaller court with a paddle and a plastic ball. As the popularity of pickleball continues to rise worldwide, petitions are emerging to advocate for more pickleball courts in communities, schools, and recreational centers to meet the growing demand from players of all ages.
Petitions include calls for funding and resources to build new pickleball courts, upgrade existing facilities, and increase accessibility for underserved communities. One petition with thousands of signatures urges local governments to prioritize pickleball infrastructure to promote physical activity and social engagement.
Join the movement to support the expansion of pickleball facilities and provide more opportunities for people to enjoy this fun and inclusive sport. Your participation can help shape the future of recreational sports and promote a healthy, active lifestyle for all.
We love the Westgate tennis courts, we use them quite frequently! We don't need another field, you can find those anywhere, but awesome tennis courts like at Westgate are hard to find. The Westgate tennis courts are so amazing and such a great place to play tennis or pickleball, especially on a nice day. Save the courts!
They always treated tennis members with disrespect. For example, The golf course would get a million dollar makeover and tennis would get a few new scoreboards.
This affects the whole (San Antonio and surrounding area) tennis community. Losing 4 courts is a match that has to be played as an away match and courts are already hard to come by. Players pay their monthly dues in part, to play home matches and that is going to be very difficult to do.
Please rethink this. You have plenty of room and money to build more tennis and pickleball courts. At the very least don’t take the tennis courts away.
“Let’s be honest, Miami Lakes desperately needs more pickleball courts—mainly so I have more places to embarrass myself in front of a larger audience. Right now, I’m out here giving the net more attention than my actual opponents and sending balls out of bounds like I’m aiming for a different zip code. If we get more courts, maybe—just maybe—I’ll finally find one where my shots actually stay in play. Honestly, I might be my opponents’ best asset. They don’t even have to try—just wait for me to self-destruct one unforced error at a time. It’s almost impressive how bad I am at making the ball do what it’s supposed to.
Ivy St. has NO sidewalk: the additional car traffic would be a hazard to the numerous families walking with kids (and dog walkers) traveling to and from the park every day.
The pickleball community has been the friendliest and most inviting community when coming new to the country and the area. Being able to share courts with diverse people through all ages is a blessing and this is only made possible through free courts.
Pickleball has brought people out of their nests. So many people like me have never played any sports until Pickleball. Now I can exercise and socialize which is good for physical and mental health.
