They just let all their friends in whether they are veterans or not making it a public bar, then hide behind their nonprofit status. Was in there only once for a pool tournament and they definitely were over serving people drinks. Alot of them left before I did and they got into their cars stumbling out the door. Nobody will do anything until it's your family member is hurt or killed by these fools. Bad behavior for a "veterans" organization!

My wife and I tried to join the VFW in Georgetown, and was told because we are "black" we were not allowed despite my service of almost 30 years. When I made complaint, their leadership came to my home and harassed me. Then come to find out they bought a few black people's membership from the LCVG just to claim they had black members. This place has had a reputation of being a white post and will be something they live with years to come. No excuse for this behavior whatsoever.

Recently lost my husband to a service related illness. I went to the Georgetown VFW to get assistance and information about survivor benefits. The veterans officer just pushed me off to someone else. Less than helpful and disrespectful to veterans in Georgetown.

This is unjust and immature, the motives behind this alteration. It is not fair to strip their livelihood from right under them, especially when they've helped shape and/or change various young lives for the better. At the end of the day, that is what FLP is all about. We are using the "L" in 'FLP' to advocate for those whose voices are rendered unheard by the superior. Reinstate Jazmine and Rosie!
Milan supported: Petition to reinstate Rosalinda De La Garza and Jasmine Dawkins in FLP
Jasmine and Rosie were the heart and soul of the program, dedicating themselves to its success and the well-being of everyone involved. Their unwavering commitment to creating a safe and nurturing environment made the program a place where people felt valued and inspired. They didn’t just organize activities—they poured their hearts into making sure every detail was meaningful and impactful. Jasmine and Rosie’s kindness and thoughtfulness were unmatched; they were always there with a helping hand, a listening ear, and words of encouragement when it mattered most. Losing them feels like losing the foundation of what made the program special, and their absence leaves a void that cannot easily be filled. They deserved so much better than this.

My concern is the misleading of students. I know my GPA is true and that I am eligible for honors and I did pay towards this for the graduation packet of shirt, plaque and such, I am hoping they didn't just take my money of over $175 and not plan on delivering on the promises and benefits that were stated.
Sarah supported: Stand Up for Students! Stop Misleading Students & Toxic Bullying by Phi Theta Kappa HQ
As a Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) member, I believe this petition is crucial because it calls for transparency and accountability from PTK Headquarters to ensure students are not misled about membership benefits or scholarship opportunities. Many students join PTK expecting significant advantages, only to face unclear policies and limited support, which can feel deceptive. Additionally, concerns about toxic bullying within PTK leadership must be addressed to protect the integrity of an organization meant to uplift and support scholars. A true honor society should foster an inclusive and ethical environment, not one where students feel exploited or silenced. Signing this petition is a step toward restoring trust, advocating for fair treatment, and ensuring PTK remains a positive force for student success.

It's frustrating to see individuals who haven’t earned it or put in the necessary effort benefiting from the program. I’ve never received a scholarship from PTK, and it’s disheartening to see someone who doesn’t truly deserve one get rewarded. Even though I received an award from PTK at my previous school, I still never had the opportunity to earn a scholarship. I truly believe that changes need to be made to restore PTK to its original mission—one that prioritizes excellence in education over connections or favoritism.
