I don’t think anyone on the street knew this was going on. If Mark had not reached out to me, I would have no idea that the zoning was potentially being changed. I’m generally against Nimbyism, but you at least have to give the community a chance to participate?and provide feedback. That did not happen here. The way “community outreach” was handled seems lazy at best and shady at worst.

I’ve been a resident of 20th St for most of my life and I’ve seen what commercialization has done for the area. I’m not in anyway saying that change isn’t a good idea but please pick another location for the select few “investors” to ruin. Here’s a spot, W. Harrison next to Rizzuto’s all the way to Bellaire Dr. commercialize that instead. It needs it.

Our community is a family-oriented area characterized by its quiet streets, established homes, and limited commercial activity. The introduction of a medical facility would bring a significant increase in traffic, noise, and congestion that our current infrastructure is not equipped to handle.
The neighborhood’s limited parking spaces would be quickly overwhelmed by the influx of patients, staff, and visitors, creating daily challenges and safety hazards for residents. Additionally, the presence of a commercial medical facility could alter the community’s character, disrupting the peaceful environment that families and long-time residents value. The increased activity could lead to higher local noise levels and potential disturbances during off-hours, adversely affecting our quality of life.
Given these considerations, it is essential that we preserve the residential nature of our neighborhood. Rezoning for commercial purposes, particularly for a medical facility, is not in the best interest of the current residents. I urge local officials to carefully reconsider this proposal and to prioritize the needs of the existing community, ensuring that any future developments align with the unique character and infrastructure of our neighborhood.
I myself am a physician, and I understand the want/desire to develop a facility, but this is not the area to do it. This will not only be a detriment to us that live here, but will also set a precedent that other areas in our neighborhood may also be rezoned for commercial use.
