We all look forward to Bonnaroo for different reasons. Regardless of those reasons, the point is that this festival holds a special place in our hearts, and we are willing to spend the money to make it here. While we never know exactly how things will turn out, we expect to have the time of our lives, letting free of the burdens of life, meeting new faces, and seeing friends we've missed. I think we all knew there would be rain, and that the weather wasn't something the organizers could control. That didn't stop us. We showed up because we intended to make the best of this weekend regardless. And that's exactly what we did. People came out to enjoy the rain, set up slip and slides, and even participated in mud wrestling. We were not upset. We were out there living! I think many of us even understand that a cancelation was necessary in major part due to the flooding, although there were other concerns as well. What is so frustrating, is how flooding happened in only one evening, when it didn't even rain for very long. How is that not the neglect of the organizers? And where is the consideration for everyone who traveled from multiple states away, having spent PTO, gas money, and time to get here?? A 75% refund does not cover the investment people made. Overall there was neglect in preparation, and the disaster was handled very poorly. I think Bonnaroo will face a serious loss in attendance if things are not made right. Without a doubt the trust has been broken. I know so many are hoping that the necessary actions will be taken to avoid such a disaster in the future. And I also know that so many are uncertain if those actions will be taken, and if they should take the effort to return next year. Bonnaroo attendees are so loyal, and care so very much about this event. I hope the organizers can give us answers and reassurance as to the actions that will be taken, and will make things right with 100% refunds.
Bonnaroo is an event we all look forward to all year round, from the moment it ends we begin planning for next Roo. Live Nation can’t control the weather, but we all knew it was coming and yet it seemed to take them by surprise. They delayed entry on Tuesday, causing lines to get in to take hours and back up onto the highways. They removed the majority of campground programming, giving us one true day of sets before having the entire event cancelled. I took 1/2 of my yearly paid time off to come to this event. I spent hundreds on travel, food, supplies, and lodging. Then money on additional lodging when the event was cancelled on day 2 and we were forced to leave the campgrounds at 8 pm, packing up our soaked belongings in the dark. Then, when staff was no where to be found, attendees took it upon themselves to help one another, and direct traffic in the campgrounds. We deserve 100% refunds. After being promised programming after “rain or shine” verbatim, it should not be on us to recoup the costs when 3 hours of rain derailed the entire festival. A festival that should have been cancelled, but Live Nation was too greedy to do so. Give me my money back!
Nobody except juggalos would have paid for Thursday’s lineup. A lot of people didn’t even go Thursday because it wasn’t even worth the time off, even though they had a 4-day pass, that’s how undesirable that day was. Charging 25% of the ticket and camping passes for a day no one would have paid anything for is ridiculous. Live Nation has insurance to cover their expenses, and are a monopoly company that can afford it. We are working struggling people who gave up a lot to be at this festival, even a full refund doesn’t cover half of the expenses for a lot of us. But it’s the least LN could do.
Live Nation knew good and well the forecast was not looking good as we did, yet instead of cancelling prior to the event they put lives at risk by letting us come out there promising “rain or shine” Well that was a lie because after the rain came and stopped so did Bonnaroo. A 75% refund is a slap in the face considering the smallest artists preformed the only day it was open and the least people were able to attend due to travel. We lost PTO days to make this happen, thousands of dollars in travel and supplies expenses along with putting miles on our vehicles all for the attractive days of the festival to be cancelled. Not to mention most of us incurred additional expenses finding a place to stay after being told we can’t stay on the farm. LiveNation it’s time for you to make things right and give a full discount showing us you do care about your loyal patrons. We invested our money, time and support into Bonnaroo time for you to do the same.
I am signing to account for the travel expenses, limited PTO used, and heartbreak that came from the cancellation of this festival. I’m not sure I will be returning unless there is infrastructure change or change in time of year (not rainy season!!!). We need change!!
75 percent refund would have been very reasonable if they handled the evacuation better instead we had to fend for ourselves and the bathrooms and lack of staff was inhumane
I was forced to walk 6 hours on an already injured knee to help get my stranded wife and children extracted from a situation that LiveNation put them in. The staff did absolutely nothing to help and in fact actively made the whole process more difficult at every turn. Days after the fact, I’m still in too much pain to walk.
We spent months and thousands of dollars preparing for this trip, we know it isn't about the money but the experience and time lost and wasted. 75% feels evil given all that we put into this and the joy and excitement we had. We know we will return to the farm again, but there needs to be better infrastructure to support the amount of people, tennessee weather, and the nature of the event itself. stable bathrooms and showers, drainage, wood chips or anything to soak up the water, raised platforms, and a better equipped staff to handle day to day operations let alone an emergency situation. this was scary and upsetting and dangerous and beyond frustrating and we deserve more than our money back, we need a promise of a better festival in the future!
I love Bonnaroo. I’ve had life changing experiences. However, this year they knew the rain they got recently and the forecast. It was reckless holding the event and not cancelling prior seeing that the farm could literally not take on even one moderate rain when 3 of 4 days had heavy rain chances. I was asking on reddit, ticktock, facebook the conditions after seeing the 5 in of rain on top of a month of heavy rain the weekend prior. Then it got delayed, not cancelled, and hopped for the best and prepared more in case of the worse. But it was clear from arrival things were unorganized. The other years I’ve attended (22 and 24 were seamless). There were cracks and faults in nearly every aspect this year. I truly hope the best for Bonnaroo’s future, but if the rumors they only opened for the insurance money knowing it was going be cancelled they put lives at risk, damaged belongings, and wasted time if and travel expenses.
Safety definitely comes first at festivals but there needed to be an implemented plan for the rain and that was not the situation. Being from Tennessee, with the weather this year we have had more rain than any other time and it was not letting up. They should have known with the amount of people coming since everything was sold out that there was going to be an issue. There was already issues on early arrives on Tuesday, it already opened late but although opening late they still didn’t have the sanitary stations setup in ADA rv speciafically. Majority of people in ADA have health issues and this was a rising concern just on day one. Due to us arriving early on Wednesday, my wife and I figured we would go restock on some things on Friday since we had 2 friends with us as well. We left around 11am and returned at 2pm and they had every exit blocked off and we were only trying to reenter to our camping spot. Our friends were stuck outside for 48 hours in a storm since we could not retrieve them. The sheriffs did not want to listen to anyone so this is also on the sheriffs department for how rude they were. They scanned our pass for entry when we left so why would we not be allowed to come back in. Our friends had to figure out another way to get out and left majority of all there things and all of our things were left as well. We’re talking probably over $1000 worth of things, from clothes, supplies,tents/canopies and personal items. Never allowed anyone to reenter but automatically sold items to the gear closet and I noticed my fan in one of the photos they posted of MY things. When I messaged them they said everything had been gone through and there’s nothing they could do about it. There’s multiple people in ADA there were not allowed to reenter to retrieve the medications either. You have a will call office but couldn’t relocate people there ? In the time being. It’s more than just the festival being cancelled, it was how it was handled.
