Petitions under this topic often focus on reforming juvenile detention facilities, advocating for fair and humane treatment of young offenders, and calling for alternatives to incarceration. 60 years is just too long, he has already served through his prime years of life. We should demonize the environment that created this behavior not the child who was manipulated by evil.
Reading the court documents, there is no denying, this man's constitutional and God given rights were completely trampled on when he was still a child. Whether he is truly guilty or innocent, (which btw based on the record of the court there was no evidence indicating he was guilty and in fact pointed towards him being innocent), Anthony was treated unfairly by the "Justice System, the courts failed to follow standard procedure including denying the oppurtunity for a jury to determine the verdict, was given an inhumane sentence that exceeded the allowed maximum and ultimately has been robbed of the most important and arguably the best chapters of a persons life. Despite what the courts claimed and the harsh and negative environment he has been forced to grow up in, he seems like a very intelligent and respectable young man. In all the videos he always had a book in his hand, was very humble and honest when he spoke, and showed respect to everyone who was around him and was truly happy for the others that received good news that they were getting a second chance at life instead of being bitter because it wasnt him like most people in his situation typically do. Its time the courts accept responsibility for their mistake and give back all that they still can of Anthonys.
After watching his interview and reading his statement I truly believe that this is a story of rehabilitation. Prison is supposed to help rehabilitate offenders, but it’s more often than not that offenders do not get this help and support. I wholeheartedly believe that this young man could make a huge impact on his community upon re-entering society.
I was younger, I didn't do good. Now I'm older, I can't do bad. I get it. It ain't about the money you makin' and it ain't about the materials you rake in. Stay humble and always have a golden heart, everyone deserves a second chance.
After watching the video and learning a bit of his situation. I believe he deserves a second chance at life. Being behind bars for that long would cause many people to be bitter and have a bad outlook. But definitely can tell he’s grown a lot and still manages to be positive this whole time. He deserves to have his case looked at and be given an option to have a second chance at life.
it’s been 16 years. i’ve seen interviews of people incarcerated for 20+ years who aren’t sane at all. this young man clearly knows what he did was terribly wrong. he’s repented his sins and has asked for forgiveness. he’s trying his best to show everyone the true person he is. a helper, a friend and just a good guy stuck in a bad situation. when your young emotions are spiked 100x more than when your an adult. you don’t think before you speak, you act before you think and you think your more mature then you really are. i was facing 5 years in prison but by the grace of Jesus and an amazing attorney I received probation. before my “crime” i had no previous record, was a youth volunteer firefighter, played and still play drums for my church, worked and went to school. after i got in trouble i started thinking before i acted. now, my crime didn’t involve anyone or was a dangerous crime, but it was still stupid and it was the result of being young and dumb. i received probation and since then i haven’t even been pulled over by the cops. jail/ prison isn’t always the answer. trust me, the court process alone will have you scared. not knowing which month with be your last, not knowing if your free or not until the last moment, not knowing if your gonna survive. all i’m saying is everyone deserves 2nd chances. and this young man most certainly deserves one.
It's hard to believe that a child would be treated as an adult. I truly believe that people can change and that 1 decision should not define your entire life I also believe that after watching Anthony's story several times he should get a second chance 60 years is too long for a 15 year old free Anthony
Anthony, your story reflects on my time I was incarcerated as a Juvenile and was offered 25 years as a Juvenile for a crime I committed with the help of my lawyers I got that time reduced. When I heard your story it took me back to those times, those first months and years of being incarcerated. I believe you have changed as a person and I’m gladly rooting for your release brother!
This young man has been in 15 years. He's making the best for himself. Education and learning a trade. He still has a good kind heart in such a harsh situation. He deserves a 2nd chance at life. He has stayed out of trouble, kept his head up and stayed positive. Give him another chance. His story can make a difference.
