Hurricanes are powerful natural disasters that have significant impacts on communities around the world. Recent trends show an increase in the frequency and intensity of hurricanes, highlighting the urgent need for better disaster preparedness and response measures. Petitions related to hurricanes often focus on providing aid and support to affected regions, advocating for stronger infrastructure to withstand storms, and calling for climate action to address the root causes of extreme weather events.
One notable petition with thousands of signatures calls for increased funding for hurricane relief efforts in vulnerable areas, emphasizing the importance of timely assistance in rebuilding communities after a disaster. Another petition highlights the need for sustainable development practices to mitigate the impact of future hurricanes and protect at-risk populations.
Join the movement to support hurricane-affected communities and push for policies that prioritize resilience and climate adaptation. Your engagement can make a difference in building a more resilient world in the face of increasing natural disasters.
Allyship is speaking out but it’s also showing up for our communities. It means being willing to care about communities outside of our own because we know as humans we are all connected. Mess with RGV and you mess with us all.
I care about this issue and not only this current issue but everything that impacts our environment. I love the outdoors. It saddens me when I read this type of stories. Soon there will no clean water here or anywhere in this plant. Rivers all over the state of Texas are being polluted or maxed out due to over construction of houses. We need to advocate for our children and grandchildren.
It seems that during the pandemic, our systems have been falling apart and cities have neglected certain duties that they were taking care of pre-pandemic. Our systems are failing us, whether it be clean water, proper preventative care from floods, proper animal control care, etc. The list goes on and on. We were not warned of the last flood and many were displaced, ripped of their transportation, and put in dangers way. This is just one example of our falling, failing systems.
My 2 year old son was just diagnosed with leukemia this February. We moved here, with our 3 girls, from southern California in the summer of 2021 thinking this would be a better place for them. I had no idea the effects of the pollution here would be worse than where we were.
As a public health official this matters to me because I was born and raised in the RGV and I know and understand the importance of environmental health and the impact it’s doing in our area.
I believe its important for us to make it so that animal protection can assist and owners comply BY LAW to not leave their animals during these horrible storms. Our small feline companions deserve the same treatment during natural disasters, they deserve to live too.
Update: In retaliation, Jeff Brower has decided to zone 107 hectares of land in Daytona, Deland, Port Orange and Ormond Beach for high density residential building. Enough is enough, I'm tired of waiting in traffic for an hour just to get home from work. I'm tired of apartment buildings popping up everywhere wetlands used to be. I'm tired of seeing wildlife being displaced and ending up as roadkill. At what point do these politicians decide that they've made enough money? Jeff Brower doesn't care about the people or wildlife of Volusia. Recall the election of Jeff Brower!
As a life long resident of Volusia County (Holly Hill) it bothers me so much regarding all this development. I remember what was once woods, cow, pastors, etc is now a mall, auto mall, bucees, apartments, etc.
Let’s please do what we can to put an end to all this.
Everywhere u drive, the trees are vanishing..our infrastructure, medical, etc cannot handle the load..my daughter is an n p in volusia county n She is OVERWHELMED
