For those that weren't at the Board Meeting on April 9th. Here is the statement I read: Hello, my name is Brandon Johnson and I worked for the Penn Valley School District from June of 2019 until February of 2022. If things had gone differently I would still be working here. I was originally hired as a District Support Services position and quickly had my duties increased to include Business Support services and Payroll duties. Both Kayla Wasley and Torie Gibson saw my potential and provided me with the support and encouragement to advance. Overall, my time here was positive with wonderful working relationships with teachers, admin, and staff. The last eight months here were the worst of my professional life and directly related to Superintendent Conley. After Kayla and Torie left I was asked repeatedly to take on the role of CBO by Melissa Conley. I was very hesitant due to inexperience and a huge learning curve, but I also felt immense pressure from my incoming boss to say “Yes.” After agreeing and negotiating my initial Contract Melissa Conley assured me she had my back and had agreed to my Contract/salary. However, it soon became very clear that she did not support me and clearly resented the Salary I was given. This began with passive aggressive comments about my inexperience and the “large” salary I was given. To be clear, I did not seek out this position and I thought the negotiations were professional and amicable to all parties. Over time, these comments turned to outright insults, being told repeatedly that I was “the enemy”, “arrogant,” and implying that I was not doing my job because I had the audacity to disagree with Superintendent Conley. I never understood the “enemy” jabs, but I firmly believe healthy discourse and professional disagreements are part of the job. During a planning session prior to a Special Board meeting, that I had spent the entire weekend preparing for, Melissa Conley made it clear that she did not want to hear anything I had prepared while slamming her hand down on my desk and yelling in my face that she “doesn’t have time for this shit!” I was left visibly shaking, ended all discussion with her, and got ready for the meeting. My presentation to the Board went very well and all of my hard work had been approved. After the Board Members left, Superintendent Conely derisively said to me and I quote: “Well they certainly think you can do no wrong.” To this day I have no idea what I did wrong, but our working relationship only deteriorated further. I began having Panic Attacks, sleep loss, and my health began to deteriorate. I was suffering silently and while I regret not bringing this up then, I felt the best thing for my mental and physical health was to leave as quickly as possible. I hope this helps illustrate a pattern of behavior that Melissa Conley has been allowed to cultivate and continues to utilize. For me, it was always behind closed doors and would have been my word against hers. I had no legal counsel, no Union, and I did not know if the Board would support me…current events make me think they would not have.

Imagine one day waking up and not being able to access your entire life savings. Now imagine your bank telling you they don't know where your money is. That happened to everyone with yotta. Words cannot describe how angry we all are. We just want our money back

Yotta savings customers deserve to be made whole. We're just as worthy as Silicon Valley Bank account holders who were hastily bailed out over a weekend to keep tech firms and VC investments solvent yet Yotta customers have had savings frozen and missing for months!!!

I may have lost allot of money in this... but more so this is the kind of issue that will set a precedent. If users aren't made whole in this, what will happen to the next group who are unjustly robbed by fintechs and banks?

My husband and I have over $16,000 frozen in our Yotta savings accounts. We are dumbfounded that in the United States something so blatantly criminal can happen and be no repercussions.

I am a recent college grad that lost my life savings ($16k+) which prevented me from being able to pay my loans back, find affordable housing, transportation, etc., forcing me to have to rely on others for financial support.

This affected me severly as my AC broke down in the middle of summer and had to take a loan with high interest to solve the emergency. Now, I am about to be lay off and I do not have any savings as I have not been able to recover from losing my money, I am in school with only 5 classes left and I cannot afford them. This is so unfair, I am, like many others, struggling to survive and our money is much needed.

I put $40K into an account that advertised the highest level of safety in banking. Yotta, Evolve, and Synapse must be held accountable and return MY MONEY that I deposited. They cannot just get away with it. Many Evolve executives have jumped ship claiming “we don’t have your money”, while Synapse sits in bankruptcy court as the CEO is spending millions on new startups. Absolutely disgusting and unacceptable. WE NEED TO BE MADE WHOLE

I didn’t have as much as others saved through yotta, but what I did have would still be a huge help to pay for hospital bills after having our baby. All of our money was put in those accounts thinking that it would be safe. It’s absolutely criminal what these companies involved are doing, claiming they don’t have our funds and refusing to pay up, and they all need to own up to the wrongdoing.
