Environmental concerns intersect with indigenous site preservation when infrastructure development threatens sacred indigenous locations. Protecting these sites involves respecting cultural heritage and balancing development needs with the conservation of significant environmental and cultural areas.
Please stop exploiting animals. They are not things, objects, commodities or resources for humans. They are feeling, living individuals with their own needs and own will to live. They deserve the most basic respect which is we co-exist with them. We should never harm them, they are vulnerable, we should instead protect them.
I worked at the wilderness village for almost 2 years and have first hand seen the impact that the previous store owners had on the town. I left before the current owners came on board, but have no doubt they carried on the amazing work. The current management of Licola is going to be the downfall of the town. The store will not be the same if left to be ran by the current management. Do the right thing Lions Board directors, and follow through with the original agreement.
Businesses like this gem and community leaders like Leanne should be supported, not torn down and undervalued. I have only ever experienced warm, top notch service at this store. I sincerely encourage the board to reflect on what has led them to consider such an absurdly immoral decision and readjust thier compass to align better with the spirit of the community that surrounds them and indeed the values of thier own club.
We had not visited the Licola store because the past owner was not friendly but with Leanne & her family we have come back & stayed at this beautiful park several time.<br>
Leanne is friendly and very passionate in serving the community.
Licola General Store is a critical supply point, particularly for hikers and bikepackers, to explore the High Country. Disrupting this, without any reasonable succession plan, is unfair and dangerous.
I was a Lion for a long time and as it says in the petition, in the oath it says, "To remember that in building up my business it is not necessary to tear down another’s" and it goes on to say, "Build Up and not Destroy". Renew the lease and work out a solution with Leanne
This sounds like a complete, unfair, unjust, heartless situation for Leanne and the Licola General Store. It is sad when a person has put their life into a business and be part of a community which she loves, and now has to pack up everything with no support or compassion from the Lions and the Wilderness Village Board.
