My dog is terrified of fireworks . Hides at the first sound of them . He is so worried about them that when he goes on evening local walk , he now refuses to go more than a few feet from front door. It is so sad that he has become so fearful . I do hope that this petition manages to get the changes needed .

One of my dogs is terrified of loud noises, and when people let off fireworks whenever the like causes huge amounts of stress which I cannot prepare for. I prepare for bonfire night, new years eve, Chinese new year, Diwali etc because I expect fireworks on these occasions, but when they are let off at unpredicted times it is impossible to make preparations.

My cat is so terrified by fireworks that she goes into a semi-conscious state every night for weeks not just the one night. Why should animals and people suffer just so people who are not affected can have entertainment? Fireworks are too loud and too often.

I’m autistic and hate them too. I don’t understand why regional fireworks can’t take place in a specific area well away from vulnerable populations. Two red pandas died from human caused stress just so some small number of humans could make some loud noises? Fireworks are unpleasant and cause injuries and death. Not only to nonhumans, but humans as well. The so called safe ones people let their children hold like sparklers can cause severe burns.

I have three chihuahuas that are absolutely petrified of fireworks. One of them in particular shakes and will not go out to do her business when these fireworks are going off. Where I live was like a war zone all night long. These aren't beautiful fireworks anymore, they are like huge explosions going off here, there and everywhere. Something needs to be done to protect all animals, wild or domestic.

I signed this after going out and having my dog scared by fireworks again this evening, the 18th of November - this has now happened pretty much every evening for the last four weeks. I am signing thinking about all the distressed pets, wild animals, veterans and refugees with PTSD from war zones, and people with noise sensitivities, plus the litter and waste. Also sickened by reading this morning that Edinburgh Zoo thinks the stress of fireworks noise may have caused the death of two red pandas within the last few weeks. They no longer seem like a joyful thing to me and I think we need to end this and reinvent more meaningful celebrations that don't harm our neighbours, companion animals and wild kin.

I have had 3 GSD rescues in my time, one of them was actually physically sick every time the fireworks started. Big as he was, we had to have the television as loud as possible, he was terrified. Obviously as a rescue, I had no knowledge of his background. he was a wonderful dog.

We have two Brittany spaniels rescued from Spain where they are used as hunting dogs - ours failed! The result is weeks on end of constant fear as fireworks around our area started way before November 5th. I've spent every night for weeks with one of our two literally shaking like a leaf on my lap despite using sprays, thunder jackets and a calming natural remedy from the vet. Sedating is not an option as no-one wants to sedate their animals from October through to the middle of January which is almost certainly what would be needed. And this is just our two dogs coping with what sounded like the Somme on some nights. One can only imagine how people with PTSD or autism are coping. I've heard recently of autistic children too terrified to leave the house and are having to be home-schooled as a result... constantly wearing headphones to try to block the noise of the explosions... Surely this is something which isn't necessary in order to enjoy the various celebrations around this time of the year?

This is becoming a bigger problem every year. Fireworks go off randomly before and after 5 Nov, Christmas, New Year, Diwali etc. this is causing unnecessary distress to many animals, ptsd sufferers and dementia patients. Please put some legislation in place. Why not just organised displays under licence only? This would also avoid fireworks being in the wrong hands and fewer injuries each year. The noise levels on these plus the environmental issues cannot be good for our planet either.
