Controlled substances are substances regulated by government policies due to their potential for abuse and addiction. The topic of controlled substances is significant as it encompasses a wide range of issues related to drug use, addiction, and public health. Recent trends have highlighted the impact of the opioid crisis and the need for comprehensive drug policies that prioritize harm reduction and rehabilitation.
Petitions under this topic often advocate for decriminalizing certain drugs, improving access to addiction treatment, and ending the war on drugs. One notable petition with thousands of signatures calls for the legalization of marijuana for medical and recreational use, citing its potential benefits for patients and reducing mass incarceration rates.
By exploring and supporting petitions on controlled substances, individuals can contribute to shaping more compassionate and evidence-based drug policies. Join the movement to promote harm reduction, empower individuals struggling with addiction, and advocate for a more humane approach to drug regulation.

In memory of my son, Josiah, who died from mitragynine toxicity (kratom). Neither he or we, his parents, had a clue how dangerous this substance can be but now we know that thousands have died as a result. Please make a change to prevent other families getting that horrible knock on the door.
I also lost my son Johnny last April to Kratom. A deadly seizure from Kratom toxicity took his life. This garbage needs to be banned immediately to save lives. This poison is not intended for human consumption
I started using kratom about 7 years ago and almost immediately lost control and then I discovered the extracts and feel free and it just absolutely spiraled out of control it has costed me my career my health and so much more how this product made it past the FDA and DEA I don't know but it needs to be stopped people point out the medicinal properties of it if that's the case then schedule it so it can be used as prescribed by a physician do not attempt to control your own you will lose control everybody is different but if you have any sort of addictive personality stay away stay far far away from kratom it will take everything
My son died in April of this year due to kratom. He was only 32. He did not use illegial drugs, drink, or smoke....even pot. He was healthy. He was wade fishing in waste deep water, collapsed and drowned. Toxicology showed a mitragynine level of 1219ng/ml.
He left behind a 10 year old daughter and many people who loved him. I miss him deeply
My son Dalen Joshua Brinkman died from Kratom overdose March 22, 2017 forever 25. He didn’t want to die. I talked with him just the night before and we talked about the future and what it looked like. He was gone the next morning.
This stuff is powerful and addicting. It hurt my physical and mental health. The withdrawal is brutal and it’s marketed like it’s coffee. I know of people who have to take a dose every four hours to not go into withdrawal, others who had to seizures, others who spent 400$ a week on it, and folks who have died, from an overdose. When will the powers that be, wake up and get a terrible substance off the shelves of gas stations and vape shops. You’re going to see an increase in deaths. Please listen to us that have been there. Change the law! Thanks, Tracey Hendershot
Our son died from Kratom in January of this year. He used it for his anxiety and depression thinking it was a natural substance that would help. He had nothing else in his system. He was 37 years old.
