Manhattan residents over pay for everything as it is - we shouldn’t be penalized to live and work in our neighborhoods. Not everyone is able to take public transportation and we shouldn’t be told to do so. Also, they should go after the people who don’t pay to use the train. No matter how much money the MTA makes, it is mismanagement and they never turn a profit. New Yorkers should t be penalized for that. All the businesses in the congestion zone have been crippled and it feels like 2020. Manhattan is dead. Restaurants and parking garages are empty. Whoever is pro congestion tax doesn’t leave their home, doesn’t own a car, and doesn’t have friends. Get rid of this tax for Manhattan residents. I shouldn’t have to pay the tax when I take my child to school 20 blocks north of where I live. Restaurants suffered since 2020…they finally got back to normal and now the city is dead. No one is driving in. The other boroughs are probably thriving.
We are faced with weekly shutdowns of the 7 train. 3 weekends every month with NO vile alternative to get to midtown without having to make a MAJOR detour. This bus line is just common sense! We need to be able to get to Grand Central without having to trek all the way to Queens Plaza adding an extra HOUR to the trip!
I live in Midtown Manhattan and can barely afford to live here as it is. All my my expenses will be going up because of this and I am now forced to move. I wanted to live close to my job but that’s now impossible.
When you live in the zone and have children who play sports on Randall’s Island there’s no choice but to drive there, otherwise you risk your children getting mugged. This is no exaggeration, it actually happened to my child. Congestion pricing to residents is wrong! Congestion pricing for small businesses is wrong! Congestion for the economy of the city is wrong!
I work for the city in the congestion relief zone and now am forced to pay an additional toll, just so I can get to work comfortably? My job does not reasonably allow me to take public transportation.
My wife & I live on Christopher St just off the West side highway , we are living on on social security in our down size apt, my wife had a stroke a little more than 14 yrs ago, relays on me to take her out mostly in a wheelchair but we walk of use the bus to get around NYC, and occasionally we take a ride to visit our grandchildren in Long Island. My car is not parked on the street as we have parking in my building. My wife & I are not contributing to the congestion of the city by making our way home on the west side highway turning onto Christopher St where we then park in our garage just short of Washington St.
The cost of everything is already high and the congestion pricing will make it more costly for no good reason.
My vote is not going to be for any candidate that is pushing for congestion pricing. Enough is Enough!
I am a New Yorker born and raised! 7 years ago I decided to move out of NY to afford my children a better quality of life. Exactly one week before we were to move my then 16 yr old son was assualted on the 6 train with a blade to his throat! It was then I knew I made the right decision to mive out of NY It was also the only possibilty of me ever being able to purchase a home. Yes I live out of NY yet work in NY still, midtown. Which is absurdly expensive already. 9 dollars more a day is 180 more a month and I am alrezdy paying an obscene amount of money to EZ Pass whiwh doesnt feel like a discount at all. I can not afford to live in NY even if I did sell my home which I love dearly. The greed is disgusting!!!!! The trains are unsafe unkept and for sure unsanitary. They are worse than when I grew up in NY. Stop being greedy
It’s not fair to working class people who have no option but to drive in to lower Manhattan. Such as food delivery and other similar occupations. I live right on the zone surrounded by both toll cameras in each side of the building. The fact that even looking for parking in the area can cause a toll charge. All ridiculous!
My parents have a mom and pop shop and business has been slow. Congestion pricing means less foot traffic in Lower Manhattan and will drive businesses out, making the economy even worse.
