This policy already started. My husband, 63, had an appointment on May 2nd. The Clinic insisted he didn't have insurance, even though we provided a copy of the front and back of the insurance card previously. We had to pay $898 so he could see his doctor. His insurance policy paid everything except $228. We contacted the Ombudsman's office and the financial assistance office. They have yet to refund the money or acknowledge their mistake. It's not right on any level.

While online petitions sadly don't do much, what I can say is I stopped taking most of my meds because of medical debt. So now having to pay a copay is ridiculous. So now I can't even see my doctor. And I have a few doctors. My dad has 22 doctors that he sees mutiple times a month. As of this comment, CC has updated their policy, but even with the new terms, I am still forced to pay it at "or else". So what then? I still can't afford it. And you make $1000 for every doctor visit from my insurance. You don't need me $60.

These firefighters are not just first responders, they are someone’s family & friends. Everyone in my family is or was a firefighter, so I understand the need for these kinds of things. You want to make sure your family & friends are taken care of. Having access to these things could be the difference between life & death. I’m very grateful to still have each one of my family members here. They put their lives on the line to save people, as a society, as a community we need to take care of our first responders because they’re just as important & need just as much support as anyone else.
Samantha supported: Firefighters demand restored access to critical detox treatment
As we rely, heavily, on our firefighters to respond to our needs, in urgent and not-so-urgent events, how is it that they are denied treatment for ‘their’ suffering and potential diagnosis of a malignant neoplasm? Without our support, in making this treatment readily available to them, we are sanctioning their suffering and denying them a quality of life that they deserve.

The Los Angeles fires happened ironically during Firefighter Cancer Awareness month. We have incredible preliminary data that this stuff could save our lives, and it’s about to be unavailable in California. Unbelievable.

As a person with COPD, I know the long term effects on the lungs, from repeated times of smoke inhalation. Can’t believe that the medicine is refused. It needs to be available and affordable thru insurance or workman’s comp- I don’t exactly understand if workman’s comp wud be of any value, with this situation. Medicine to help clear the lungs of toxin produced by various types of smoke from grass to plastics t toxin fumes is a necessity for this specific job type!

Our firefighters do so much for our community and selflessly sacrifice of themselves. The least we can do is fight for their survival! Give them a chance to undo the damage the job does to their bodies and give them back the years of life that fire-related damage threatens to take away! Our firefighters give so much and ask for so little, don’t let their sacrifices, sacrifices my fiancée and so many of our friends make, go up in smoke.

I had severe smoke inhalation from the Eaton Fire. I believe that these treatments significantly help my recovery process. This treatment should be readily available for firefighters.
