We need to save our environment! Stop SAAB! Save our beautiful land land and Northern Michigan! I was born and raised in Grayling and so was my father. He had 12 brothers and sisters! Wakeley Lake, Wakeley Bridge Road named after my family!! No to SAAB !! Hear the voices of the community!
This is a dangerous project that will effect the drinking water of not just michigan residents, but also everyone that the great lakes touch. With depleted uranium and pfas in our water and on our land will destroy us for generations to come. Saab needs to stay in Sweden if their environmental record is so clean.
My family and I reside in Kingston Springs but we frequent Bowie Nature Park almost weekly. I cannot imagine the impact an outdoor gun range will inflict upon the wildlife. Bowie is a beautiful serene nature park and I fear a gun range will destroy all that the park was created to preserve.
1. I'm concerned for the safety of horseback riders and dog walkers that use the park. A spooked dog or horse could easily bolt at the sound of repeated and sustained gunfire and cause serious injury to themselves, their handler or a bystander.
2. There are subdivisions and homes adjacent to this parcel on both Crow Cut, Dice Lampley and Cox Pike. Gun ranges don't belong in residential areas.
I've been going to Bowie for over 20 years. This is the place I go to get peace and enjoy the beautiful nature that Bowie has to offer. Adding a gun range directly on top of Bowie will completely destroy the peaceful atmosphere, please do not take this amazing place away from the community.
There has to be a better piece of property. The city can put this in… NOT right next to our precious resource Bowie Park where we ride or Horses every week and enjoy the quiet, peaceful beauty it was intended for!
I completely support our police department, but come on fairview… We have not only the money in our budget to buy a different piece of property, but we can also work on having someone donate a good piece of property as well! Don’t make this decision and shut your community’s need as and desires out once again!!
I adore Bowie Park and feel so lucky to have a peaceful place to walk with my dog and kids in Fairview. With a gun range, I won’t feel that way anymore. Please find some other place to put it since there is unused farmland galore in our county. Please Listen: The people of Fairview don’t want a gun range here.
I go to natural areas to enjoy the sights and sounds of nature, not gunfire. I won't be going to Bowie Nature Park anymore if a gun range and sniper tower are put in the park.
If the park was donated as a natural area, I don't understand how a gun range and sniper tower qualifies as nature.
This is definitely not what Bowie Nature Park was intended for. My family and I hike and play here all the time, now to imagine hiking with the sound of gun fire in the background changes the experience 100%. There are plenty of shooting ranges nearby for the police to stay qualified; what is the return on investment here of investing $750K so that we have a closer shooting range for our police force when there is already several 20 mins away.
I can think of a lot better uses of our tax funds that would actually benefit this community versus negatively impacting it (what’s currently proposed).
Outdoor shooting ranges should be in isolated areas. This is Not an isolated area. I live near the proposed site and it is in a valley. The noise would be devastating to the community. Outdoor lighting would create light pollution in a dark area.
