Leaders,
Listen to what the people here want. This is bigger than money. We want to be safe and happy in our community just like you and your family! I was here when Germantown Rd was just 2 lanes for driving and safe.
Moved here in 2018. I've witnessed all the proud homeowners flee with their houses becoming rented by drug abusers. Nobody wants that next door. 55% of houses in cordova are rented now. So everything is becoming grim and polluted by people who do not care. I don't even want to be a part of the dysfunctional Memphis, honestly at this point I'm sad I live here. There's zero community. I've never even made one friend here since 2018. People around here are having kids but not raising them. I want to move FAR AWAY. At least give us relief from the cesspool of Memphis and cut us FREE.
I've lived in the Berry Hill Farms community for more than 19 years. I was not in favor of being annexed by the city of Memphis. Chimney Rock is like a freeway now and the street need to be paved by the city services. I've watched my community decline in beauty, safety and the general maintenance of streets, curb appeal, and sanitation every since the annexed by the city of Memphis.

The Declaration of Independence and the TN Constitution teach, governments derive their just powers from the CONSENT of those who would be governed. The annexation of Cordova by Memphis was not based upon the consent of the people of Cordova. Net, Memphis does not have the just power to govern, including taxing, the people of
Finally! I'm SICK of paying Memphis tax money and it doesn't go anywhere! Fingers crossed we move forward with this.
My wife grew up in Cordova, it used to be a stunning and beautiful place. Now, everything has gone downhill. We are in a similar position to Germantown, there is no reason for this community to fall this hard. de-annexation would allow us to focus our resources more efficiently, implement a strong localized police force, and implement a new working tax review. The city of memphis was full of greed and desperation to fill the empty hole they created in their city. All they wanted was more tax revenue to act as a band aid for their sinking ship. It is time this community took back its life.
