As a personal animal lover myself, it's heartbreaking seeing "hamster cages" at places like PetSmart when they look more like dollhouses. Domesticated hamsters don't get enough love and appreciation and I hope we as humans can all do better to help out our fuzzy friends
In 2022 I became interested in adopting a Hamster. I had no idea the amount of work and money that needed to go into owning a hamster. Through amazing people on YouTube I learned how to properly take care of a hamster. It is not cheap and they are not low maintenance pets. Most people think hamsters are ‘easy, cheap, and fun pets’ and that is what leads to this horrible mistreatment of hamsters and all pets sold by pet smart in general. There is no cheap pet. Hamsters are not kids toys. Pet smart, please, we are asking you to treat Hamsters and other animals you sell with the respect they deserve. No one wants to be locked up.
It is estimated that there are less than 10 vaquitas left, many people don’t even know of their existence. The biggest reason that vaquitas have been pushed to near extinction is because of nets in boat yards, they get tangled in these nets and cannot escape. If these beautiful creatures mean anything to you we must take action.

We need to learn to respect nature and live in harmony with her, and I want the children I plan to have someday to live in a world full of life and beauty.
I remember seeing a Vaquita on one of my boat trips. It looked at me dead in the eyes, like it was staring into my soul, like it was a final cry for help with their precious little clicks and whistles. I couldn’t just leave it there, so I called the Mexican Marinelife Hotline to report it. It has since been rescued. We can’t let them die in vain.

Please, please save these animals! Vaquitas have been my favorite animal forever and it would be absolutely devastating to loose another amazing part of our animal kingdom, along with the impact it will have on other creatures in the area.
I first learned about the vaquita when I was in kindergarten. I specifically remember being like “what is that?” However, through my years of schooling, I have crafted many presentations about this wonderful mammal slowly being killed off by illegal fishermen trying to make a quick buck off of totoaba swim bladders. The porpoises then get trapped and either killed on deck or die from the stress or suffocation. Alas, I am only a mere child without the power or knowledge to make change. It is quite depressing. Like I’m literally a kid.
