Thank you to everyone who has signed and supported this petition. Every signature helps bring attention to an important question.

Since childhood, we grow up seeing zoos as just another part of our community. We rarely stop to ask:

Why do these animals live in captivity for us to see and enjoy?

Polar bears are adapted to cold Arctic climates, Arctic wolves to Arctic environments, and eagles to soaring through vast open skies. Shouldn't we question whether their lives in captivity offer the best possible welfare?

Yes, some animals may have been rescued or may be unable to return to the wild. But could suitable sanctuaries, conservation facilities, or other environments offer them a better quality of life?

This petition asks Toronto City Council and the Toronto Zoo Board of Management to commission an independent review of the Zoo's future, examine alternatives to animal exhibition, and put the welfare of every individual animal first.

Imagine having no choice about where you live or how freely you move. Animals cannot sign this petition for themselves, but we can speak up for their welfare.

🎉 We've reached 100+ supporters — thank you!

📣 Please share this petition with friends, family, and fellow animal lovers. Every share can help our message reach more people.

Let's keep the conversation going and encourage Toronto to take a closer look at the future of its zoo.

For the animals. For responsible conservation. For transparency. For Toronto.
