I have lived with pets my entire live and I know that they can express happiness, gratitude, playfulness and with that can also express fear, regret, sorrow. Yet they can also show love unconditionally. Any being that has that range of expressions needs to be protected. Not a single living thing should feel fear and pain and suffer at the hands of another being.
It never occurred to me that pets would be left in these homes after children have already been removed for their own safety. To me it's clear that animals require, and should be given, the same level of protection as a matter of routine.
I've moved into a council flat that had an elderly previous tennant that couldn't look after herself and she had six cats and when they moved her they found one decomposing. The flat stunk when I got it and nothing was mentioned and now my dog has mites and is in a right mess. He's never even had a flea until I moved in here and he's 14. The council must of known about the flat but they obviously haven't used any pesticides or anything when cleaning it and they knew I had a dog. I'm disgusted with them. This could end my dog he is getting old. This has nothing to do with this issue I suppose but I love dogs and just wanted to share my own story. The council clearly don't care about my health or my dogs. I'm at the vets in the morning and it's all costing me a bomb because of the council. I've also just put all new carpets down and might need new ones again as I'm afraid he will just get it again if he gets rid of them. I am so angry about it. Any animals being mistreated should be rehoused.
We are hearing on a daily basis about rights of individuals, groups and organisations but hardly ever about animal rights. The RSPCA is not fit for purpose. An animal especially a dog is not a possession it is a sentient being, a loyal friend and partner, it should be treated as such in Law.
Animals have souls and feelings and should be treated as such. Especially as they trust us 100% to advocate for them when abused as they do for us humans. They will protect us at their own cost of life.
Absolutely, Patricia! I wholeheartedly support your sentiments.
It is imperative that the RSPCA receives stronger backing from the government to enhance their authority in prosecuting those who commit these vicious acts of animal cruelty.
We cannot turn a blind eye to the ongoing suffering that we witness on a daily basis.
The time has come for the RSPCA to move beyond the outdated notion that as long as animals have food and shelter, they are alright. We need decisive action to protect those who cannot speak for themselves!
This is why the RSPCA need to be taken out of the picture, I experienced a very similar situation while trying to save a beautiful German Shepherd that had been abandoned by filthy scumbag neighbours, the SPCA were worse than useless, I had to feed this dog through the letterbox with dry kibble and ice cubes for six months while the useless SPCA did nothing. From now on if any animal is in need of rescue I will take care of it myself, all they were was a hinderence, after 6 months of constant calls from myself and other people the dog was removed from the squalid and horrendous conditions and we were never told what happened to her even though I had made it clear that I was very capable of giving her a wonderful life and home. They are not fit for purpose. Save the animals yourself.
The RSPCA are not helpful when reporting animals hurt or in danger. I reported a young Heron bird clearly visibly distressed and breathing very fast stuck in a hedge. I reported it and waited for almost an hour for them to arrive and when one person did arrive, she took one look at the young heron and said there was nothing she could do and promptly left !! I was simply astounded by the complete dismissal of an injured young bird and complete lack of interest in helping at all. Not the RSPCA I had supported previously but never will again - absolutely disgusted !!
Any vulnerable creature at the mercy of evil cruel beings breaks my heart and is hard to suffer just by hearing about it. To be honest I cant bear to know the details. However, my discomfort is nothing that comes anywhere near how this poor dog must have felt, being terrorised and not being able to understand what had caused this brutality. Whoever can inflict such abhorrent behaviour is a danger to any vulnerable person or animal. around them. So many times, psycopaths have been known to be cruel to animals leading on to terrible cruelty to humans also, so such beings need to be dealt with as quickly and efficiently as possible and animals should not be their 'testing' objects. Once again, my heart is broken for this loving dog.
