Young People Day

The Issue

2017 was the first year Young People's Day celebrated Children, teens & Young adults from all walks of life, including rich, poor, middle class. ALL Young People, ages 0 to 29!

Young People Day is a vision that honors the younger generation—our future leaders, innovators, and caregivers. This initiative originally drew inspiration from celebrated days dedicated to parents, such as Mother's Day and Father's Day, understanding that young people deserve a moment under the spotlight, too.

Sign this petition to help convince decision makers declare the 2nd Sunday in April, "Young People Day", where young individuals, are celebrated for their contributions, dreams, and potential. Such recognition not only boosts their morale but also emphasizes the importance of their role in shaping society. Young People Day acts as a catalyst for young people’s development, fostering an environment of support, understanding, and encouragement.

Nationally, the youth constitute a significant portion of the population. In 2023, there were approximately 120 million young people ages 14 to 24 living in the United States and is a powerful force for sustainable economic development and innovation. Current statistics show that youth unemployment rates remain higher than those for adults, and mental health issues among young people are alarming. Therefore, it's crucial to provide avenues for recognition and support.

Instituting an American Young People Day can assist in addressing these challenges by galvanizing community support and emphasizing youth empowerment. Events can include educational workshops, career counseling, recreational activities, family time and more, paving the way for a healthier and happier young generation.

Celebrating American Young People every second Sunday, annually can create a significant impact on their lives and contribute positively to communities. Recognize their potential, empower their initiatives, and invest in their capabilities to create a brighter future for all.

Help make Young People Day a federal holiday. Sign this petition and show your support for our youth, for our future.
