URGENT SAFETY CONCERN AT COBBS CREEK

The Issue

To Whom This May Concern,

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to bring your attention to a serious and ongoing traffic safety issue occurring at the intersection of Cobbs Creek Parkway at Cedar Avenue and Christian Avenue.

Far too often, after the light has turned red and the opposing direction has the right of way to walk, drivers continue to drive through the red light, rather than wait for their green. This reckless behavior puts both pedestrians and other drivers at risk. There have been numerous near-misses, and it’s only a matter of time before someone is seriously injured or killed.

This very area has already seen tragedy. I want to remind you of Avante Reynolds, a young woman who was struck and killed in a hit-and-run near this intersection. Her life mattered. We shouldn't have to witness more loss before proactive steps are taken.

Our community is asking for your leadership and swift action. We need:

  • Red-light cameras installed to hold violators accountable
  • Heavier fines or license suspensions for those who run red lights
  • Increased police presence during peak traffic times
  • Improved pedestrian signage and safety measures

Please treat this as the urgent public safety matter it is. Lives are at stake.

Thank you for your time and service to our community. I look forward to your response and to seeing concrete steps taken to protect the people who live, walk, and drive in this area.

Warm regards,
Concerned Cobbs Creek Residents
