Kenyatta J. Johnson (born October 30, 1973) is a prominent American politician and current president of the Philadelphia City Council, having assumed office in January 2024. A member of the Democratic Party, he represents the Second District, which includes parts of Center City, South Philadelphia, and Southwest Philadelphia. Johnson's commitment to public service began with the founding of the Peace Not Guns initiative in 1998, following the tragic murder of his cousin. He served in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives from 2009 to 2012 before transitioning to City Council.
