I am personally affected by the excessive use of plastic in our supermarkets. Every time I buy a cauliflower, I wonder why it needs a plastic hat. Why is broccoli wrapped in plastic? Vegetables have their own natural skins; they don't need additional layers of non-biodegradable material. This unnecessary use of plastic is not just an inconvenience, but also a significant contributor to environmental pollution.

Plastic bags take up to 20 years to decompose, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). That's two decades for a single piece of plastic used for mere minutes! It's high time we address this issue head-on.

We are calling on ASDA and all British supermarkets to stop wrapping fruits and vegetables in plastic. By doing so, these companies can significantly reduce their carbon footprint while setting an example for other businesses worldwide.
