What would Dartmoor be without its ponies. They are a National Treasure, we should honour them. Our family spent many a happy weekend or spare evening on Dartmoor visiting these ponies, they need to be protected for future generations. The are a visitor attraction too. Kill off the ponies, stopping over night camping, do you really think people are going to driving miles to get to Dartmoor in their droves. Those ponies and a chance to wake up in a wilderness setting is what attracts people. They can hike over half of England but they don’t get that.

Each herd is unique on dartmoor, to reduce the overall numbers so low will effect the herds disastrously and the diversity of the moor itself. Natural England are not known for their horse expertise and should not be proposing such extreme measures. Plenty of the local charities and people of Dartmoor would agree that this is the wrong move.
