Tell Trump: Don’t Pull the Plug on Wind Clean Power Projects
The Issue
They got permits. They raised billions. They broke ground. And then—without warning—the federal government told them to stop.
The Trump administration has issued sudden stop-work orders on multiple offshore wind projects that were already approved, financed, and under construction.
The latest target? Revolution Wind—a nearly completed wind farm off the coast of Rhode Island that was set to power more than 350,000 homes. The administration cited vague “national security” concerns but has provided no public evidence.
This isn’t just one project. The same pattern has played out in New York, Maryland, and Idaho. Projects that followed the rules, invested billions, and hired thousands of American workers are now in limbo. Legal experts say there’s little justification for these shutdowns—and no transparency in how they’re being ordered.
Investors are pulling back. Developers are rethinking projects. Thousands of high-paying union jobs are at risk. And communities expecting clean, affordable power are left in the dark.
We’re calling on Congress to immediately investigate the legality of these stop-work orders.
The Department of the Interior and BOEM to halt politically motivated interference in clean energy.
Federal courts to ensure that no project approved through legal channels can be canceled without due process and clear, documented justification.
This is about more than wind. It’s about trust in our permitting system, stability for working families, and the future of American clean energy.
If projects can be derailed after being greenlit, no energy developer—clean or otherwise—can plan or invest with confidence. We risk setting back energy progress for a generation, all because of secretive decisions made behind closed doors.
