Tell Trump: Americans Can’t Afford Your Tariffs — End the Price Hikes Now
The Issue
President Trump promised to lower prices — but instead, everyday Americans are paying more for the goods we rely on.
According to a new report from Goldman Sachs, U.S. consumers are now bearing over 55% of the cost of the Trump administration’s recent tariffs on steel, aluminum, auto parts, furniture, and more. That burden could rise to 70% if additional duties go into effect — with no guarantee of price relief in sight.
Let’s be clear: Tariffs are taxes, and we’re the ones footing the bill.
Prices have increased every month since April — when Trump made his “Liberation Day” speech and announced sweeping new import duties. These tariffs are already driving inflation back up, hurting working families, and squeezing small businesses that depend on affordable supplies.
We, the undersigned, are calling on President Trump and the U.S. Trade Representative to:
- Immediately reverse new consumer-focused tariffs, including those on auto parts, furniture, kitchen goods, and electronics
- Halt proposed increases on Chinese imports that could drive consumer costs even higher
- Provide direct relief to U.S. households, if the administration insists on continuing tariff-based revenue collection
The administration claims that foreign exporters will absorb the cost — but the data proves otherwise. And while the government touts $215 billion in tariff revenue, none of that money has meaningfully helped the people bearing the brunt of these price hikes.
Even worse, these costs hit low- and middle-income families hardest, raising prices on basic needs while inflation is already making it harder to pay for groceries, rent, and gas.
Tariffs might make for a tough-sounding campaign slogan — but in practice, they’re a hidden tax on the American people.
Sign this petition to tell President Trump: Americans can’t afford these tariffs. End the price hikes now — and stop using working families to fund trade wars.
