Stop nycacc from euthanizing frightened cats
The Issue
Living in Schenectady, NY, I have seen firsthand the effects of the sad practices employed by shelters like the New York City Animal Care Centers (NYCACC). I don't believe that it is right to euthanize a cat simply because it is scared while under the shelter's care. All pets deserve a second chance, a loving home, and should not face imminent death because of their fear.please sign my petition to stop https://newhope.shelterbuddy.com/Animal/List and https://www.nycacc.org/emergency-placement/ they are in nyc from euhanizing cats . please either save the cats on there page asap or sign this petition to hopefully pass a law so they have to call rescue shelters or no kill shelters instead of euthanizing them. people have filled out applications and deposited 200 dollars a cat to save cats but they still euthanzied cats.
The NYCACC is reportedly charging $200 per cat to save them from being euthanized instead of collaborating with local rescue groups and no-kill shelters that could provide a safe haven for these frightened animals. This financial demand is unrealistic and unkind, leaving countless cats on death row because their fear is misunderstood or unmanageable in the shelter's environment.
Statistics show that frightened animals are not inherently aggressive, but often need special care or a quieter environment to adapt and reveal their true nature. Several no-kill shelters in New York City take pride in rehabilitating such animals, proving that it is possible to find loving homes for these scared cats.
It's time for the NYCACC to stop its current inhumane practice of euthanizing scared cats and instead adopt a policy of working with rescue groups. Adopting this change would not only save lives but enhance the center's reputation within the community, showing that they care genuinely for animal welfare.
Furthermore, these innocent lives could be offered for adoption at no cost, ensuring that those who have the heart and home to care for them can do so without financial burdens. This act alone speaks volumes of compassion and would encourage more adoptions city-wide.
Please join me in urging the NYCACC to cease euthanizing terrified cats and partner with rescue groups for better outcomes. By signing, you are lending these cats a voice, giving them a chance to experience life, comfort, and care beyond the shelter walls. Let's push for change, support alternative solutions, and save lives together. Sign this petition today and stand against unnecessary animal euthanasia.
