The loss of the Adelaide 500 is a tragic betrayal. It reminds South Australians of the previous theft of the Formula One Grand Prix. Worse still, this time we have been robbed by our own.

But the loss is deeper than the race alone. V8s were popular because we proudly made those cars. But General Motors and a Liberal Government saw to that.

Alarming to many South Australians is the prospect of watching German-built Holdens while sipping Victorian-made West End. Can you leave a worse taste in the collective mouths of South Australians?

What we need is a race by South Australia for South Australia.

No doubt it will be so successful that Melbourne will eventually steal it. Stuff 'em  though — we will do something better after that too!
