In certain countries like the United States, K-12 education systems operate on a 10-month schedule in which students go to school five days per week and then are off a full two months in the summer. Many students forget a lot of what they learned over the long 2-month summer break, and many parents struggle to pay for adequate food and childcare during those months. Signers of this petition feel it would be better if K-12 education systems as well as employers in every industry were mandated to provide 3-day weekends for all employees (and students). This would help ensure more parents have the same time off as their children, and it would provide more time for people with stressful jobs to decompress, get better rest, and spend quality time with their loved ones traveling or having fun enjoying local area activities.
