The Issue

Please do not let DCF cut funding to Youth Advocate Programs (YAP), Inc.
The NJ Revised FY 2021 budget proposes cutting funding to COMPANIONSHIP CONTRACTS through DCF which will affect our most vulnerable New Jerseyans “OUR CHILDREN”! YAP Inc. is a nationally recognized, nonprofit organization exclusively committed to the provision of community-based alternatives to out-of-home care through direct service, advocacy and policy change. Your support is greatly appreciated! Let’s save our communities by keeping our families together. When families thrive our Communities THRIVE! YAP began providing services in New Jersey on behalf of the highest need, highest risk young people and their families in 1978 in an effort to strengthen families and prevent very expensive and ineffective out of home placements. We have become the "Go To" agency for DCF, working with youth in crisis. Today we provide services in all 21 counties, employ 236 staff and serve about 1,500 youth and their families with the most complex needs. A full 70% of the youth and families we serve are of color, and our staff are nearly 75% people of color who live and do their work in the communities where our children and families reside.  Communities that will be severely impacted by these cuts.  YAP INC. has committed over 40 years to working with DCF caseworkers in stabilizing homes and keeping families together. YAP INC. needs your help in appealing to our legislators to restore funding to COMPANIONSHIP FUNDING that If not restored will greatly impact our children and families and their ability to receive the support they need to maintain their family structure. Restore Funding to ensure that YAP INC. May Continue to Advocate for our families and our communities. We ask that you email and call our state legislators and demand that they vote no to the PROPOSED CUTS TO COMPANIONSHIP CONTRACTS!
