The Issue

Nelson and Gladys Gonzalez, who lived in the U.S. for 35 years, have been unjustly deported to Colombia, leaving their three U.S. citizen daughters devastated. They raised their family, contributed to their community, and faithfully attended immigration check-ins over the years.

Despite their efforts to stay in the country legally, including appeals to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, they were detained, treated as criminals, and deported.

Their deportation has had devastating consequences on their family. Their daughters—Gabby, Jessica, and Stephanie—are left to grapple with the emotional trauma of having their parents detained and deported. The Gonzalezes are law-abiding individuals with no criminal history, yet they were treated as criminals during their detention, handcuffed and separated from their loved ones. Their daughters were left in disbelief, as their parents had faithfully complied with immigration checks every year.

We urge the U.S. government to grant them humanitarian parole to reunite them with their family and allow them to rebuild their lives in the country they’ve called home for so long.
