The Issue

We, the undersigned, are calling for a historic change to reclaim our republic from the outsized influence of corporations and special interest groups. Lobbying, as it stands, has corrupted our political system, prioritizing the wealth of the few over the will of the people. It’s time to end this practice and restore a government that truly represents its citizens.

We demand reform to ensure that our elected officials serve the interests of the people—not wealthy donors or corporations.

Why This Matters:

Lobbying Corrupts Our Republic:
Corporations and special interest groups spent over $4 billion in 2022 to influence legislation, and by the first half of 2024 alone, lobbying expenditures had already reached a record-breaking $2.2 billion. This relentless prioritization of profits over public needs leaves the average voter with little say in how our country is governed.

Politicians Are Not Accountable:
With lobbyists funding campaigns and offering lucrative post-political careers, lawmakers often prioritize donors' interests over those of their constituents.

Public Trust is Broken:
70% of Americans believe lobbying harms our republic. This loss of trust undermines our system and creates a growing divide between elected officials and the people they represent.

Real Consequences:
Policies shaped by corporate lobbying have impacted everything from healthcare affordability to environmental protections, prioritizing the wealth of a few over the well-being of millions.

What We Demand:

Ban Corporate Lobbying:
Prohibit corporations and special interest groups from funding campaigns or influencing legislation through monetary incentives. This ensures that the people's voice carries equal weight in policymaking.

Implement a "Revolving Door" Ban:
Prevent politicians and government officials from becoming lobbyists for at least 10 years after leaving office. This ensures decisions are made in public interest, not for personal gain.

Increase Transparency:
Require a publicly accessible database that discloses all meetings, campaign contributions, and votes related to corporate interests.

Public Campaign Financing:
Replace private donations with publicly funded elections to ensure candidates can run campaigns without reliance on corporate money.

Cap Donations:
Enforce strict limits on individual and organizational contributions to campaigns to prevent disproportionate influence.

Our Vision:
Imagine a government that makes decisions based on the needs and desires of its citizens—where your voice matters as much as the wealthiest donor. Together, we can create a system that values integrity, transparency, and fairness.

This is not just about changing laws; it’s about restoring republic itself. Every American deserves to trust that their vote matters as much as a billionaire’s check. This isn’t just a fight for reform—it’s a fight for our families, our communities, and our future.

Call to Action:
We must act now. Signing this petition is the first step, but real change requires all of us to demand a government that serves its people. Together, we can organize, educate, and bring this movement to Congress.

Join us in demanding that Congress prioritize the will of the people over the interests of the few. Sign this petition to send a clear message:

We, the people, want a government free from corruption, accountable to those it serves, and dedicated to creating a better future for all.

Closing Statement:
The power of change is in your hands. Once we reach our goal, we will deliver this petition directly to Congressional leaders and organize a nationwide awareness campaign to ensure our voices are heard.

Together, we can reshape our country, end lobbying, and restore the balance of power to the people. Let’s stand united for a better, more equitable future.
