REPEAL Missouri Bill 732 - Police Dash and Body Camera Footage MUST be public.

The Issue

Missouri House of Representatives, Senate, and Governor Jay Nixon passed a bill that makes the finding of truth and fact more difficult. Senate Bill 732 must be repealed.

Simply put, citizens are being prevented from seeing or reviewing body camera or dash camera footage.

Cameras protect citizens from unjustified force at the hands of officers, and further protects officers who are in fact doing their job properly. This transparency is paramount to ensuring that the relationship between police and communities is not only maintained, but further strengthened.

On July 8, 2016, Gov. Nixon signed into law a bill that erodes the public trust, destroys transparency, and eliminates accountability of taxpayer-funded public servants. Senate Bill 732, Mobile Video Recordings (RSMo. 610.100) and Crime Scene Evidence (RSMo. 610.205) cannot stand, and must be repealed. The State of Missouri has a Sunshine Law (RSMo. §601.011) in place to promote the openness of government for a reason.

Senate Bill 732 is in direct opposition of this commitment.
