Repeal Mississippi's SAFER Act — Put a stop to violent transphobia in the south

Repeal Mississippi's SAFER Act — Put a stop to violent transphobia in the south
The Issue
In May of 2024, Senate Bill 2753, also known as the SAFER Act, was passed and signed into Mississippi's government that prohibits an individual the right to access bathrooms, changing rooms, and public facilities that correspond to their gender identity and makes it a punishable offense. This bill declares that there are only "two sexes," rejects the concepts of gender identity, and promotes a harmful rhetoric against transgender women.
Governor Tate Reeves states that this act was meant to protect "Mississippi's daughters," but what he fails to realize is that many of these "daughters" are also intersex, transgender women, transgender men, non-binary, and gender non-conforming who would feel safer in facilities that matched their identities. The SAFER Act will only increase more anti-LGBTQ+ violence in the state of Mississippi.
Anti-trans bills like the SAFER Act do not protect us and only fuel more hate in our society. We have a duty to protect the citizens of this state regardless of how they choose to identify or express themselves. Show your support in advocating for the transgender community by signing this petition to encourage MS legislators to repeal Senate Bill 2753.
