In September 2015, the three Neville-Lake children, Daniel, age 9, Harrison, age 5, and Milly, age 2 and their grandfather were tragically killed by Marco Muzzo, who was driving while intoxicated.

Edward Lake, the children's father, died by suicide on Monday June 20, 2022, one day after Father's Day. After the crash that took his children's lives, Edward had been suffering from anxiety and suicidal thoughts.

The Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital opened in February 2021. Marco Muzzo’s family donated millions of dollars to the Vaughan hospital to get the main tower stamped with their name, called De Gasperis Muzzo Tower. Over the years, the Muzzo family has also donated to many Toronto hospitals.

The Muzzo family name is imprinted on these buildings, which is morally and ethically wrong.

The hypocrisy of the situation is appalling and sickening. Mackenzie Health, a foundation that prides itself on being a "dynamic regional healthcare provider serving a population of more than a half million people across York Region and beyond," put the family name of a known drunk driver on our Vaughan hospital. This is a drunk driver who was convicted on four counts of impaired driving causing death and two counts of impaired driving causing bodily harm and sentenced to 10 years in prison.  Hospitals are supposed to save lives, not be a supporter and promoter of criminals that have killed innocent people, especially children.

This is a call demanding Mackenzie Health, the City of Vaughan, City of Toronto, and the Muzzo Group remove the Muzzo name entirely from our tax-funded hospitals. Sign if you agree.
