Rebuild A Motor Race Track In The Bay And Combat Sideshows

Rebuild A Motor Race Track In The Bay And Combat Sideshows
The Issue
Bulletin Points:
•Reconstruct Historical Independent Small Motor Race Track
•Reducing Illegal Sideshows and Racing
•Have a safe venue
I am creating this petition primarily for the Bay Area, but this involves everyone as well. I am petitioning to create a safe space and venue for all Auto Enthusiasts. I propose the site where the once famous independent track, Bayland Speedway (Fremont Raceway), be used as a historical site. As well reconstructed back into a race track.
By doing this, creates a safe space for an Auto Enthusiast destination! In the past, there have been motorcycles, cars, and even boating events (since the bay was right there)! Once there were two perfectly straight paved dragstrips ¾ of a mile long (which also served as a landing strip for Moffett Naval Air Station during World War II!). A ¼ mile dirt oval and a ⅜ paved oval. And Motocross track!
This drag strip was the site of the FIRST 7-second run in 1960 and a 6-second run two years later. And in 1983, a decade record of 5-second top fuel record and 1986 fastest quarter-mile on a street bike of 9-seconds. Famous and world record drivers such as Don “Big Daddy” Garlits, Don “The Snake” Prudhomme, Art Malone, Connie Kalitta, Shirley “Cha-Cha” Muldowney, Pisano Matsubara, Mendy Fry, Pat Austin, “Bad” Brad Anderson, Gene Snow, Jungle Jim, Jeb Allen, and much much more. There can be memorabilia of these pioneers of speed in the bay area. Historical facts about the struggles of opening up the once beautiful track. How the dragstrip was also a landing strip during World War II. How famous Evel Knievel jumped here several times. Or “Golden Gate Nationals” attracting many cutthroat National Hot Rod Association (Becoming Division 7 of the NHRA) championship competitors. The reconstructed building and track could play old videos of each race and even the old news segment.
Let us not forget as a site for the most production-bike record attempts. Baylands Raceway was in films such as the critically acclaimed, More American Graffiti. Which starred Paul Le Mat (as John Milner) and was directed by Bill L. Norton. 1979 made-for-television Hot Rod for several episodes starring Gregg Henry and Pernell Roberts directed by George Armitage.
Many old race tracks have been decommissioned or demolished. However, there is one speedway that still has enough space to be reconstructed. Built where the former drag strip and former glider airstrip is what we know is Pacific Commons. But an aerial view shows that there are remnants of the former oval track. Paving a new racetrack would be south of the oval track. There can be memorabilia with historical facts set up everywhere on the site. There is PLENTY of history here.
The old Fremont Speedway/Baylands Raceway is the best location in the entire bay area. Even though there is no building, it should it must be deemed as a historical site. Everyone should know all of the struggle, effort that went into this track. And the history of this place cannot be erased or built over for some shopping plaza.
Reconstructing Fremont Speedway/Baylands Raceway will virtually eliminate illegal street racing and sideshows. It is a great way to create a safe space for all auto enthusiasts across the continent.
As well as an open venue to be rented out for other events.
Passionate track-race-car-drivers that travel from SoCal to NorCal or NorCal to SoCal (or even out of state for Track events) will make this a destination and help build the economy.
Baylands Raceway was known for its tracks for being more efficient from the dense, near-sea-level air and outstanding ground traction for a more fast track time. Everyone will want to find out for themselves!
I can guarantee that this will positively boost the economy.
Previous attempts to petition have failed in the past. But with the height of takeovers, slideshows, and illegal racing. It is safe to say that this will combat all of that. Like it once did in the past with street racing.
Please consider signing this petition.
