Provide Free Water and Safe Rides on the Las Vegas Strip

The Issue

I've lived in Las Vegas since I was a child. I've seen the heart-rending circumstances that can result when locals or tourists consume too much alcohol without staying hydrated. People can pass out on the Strip, or even worse, find themselves alone in a dangerous situation, unable to make sensible decisions.

Our city's allure as a vibrant nightspot shouldn't compromise visitor and resident safety. Unfortunately, instances of over-intoxication often lead to tragedies such as sexual assaults and substance-induced accidents. According to statistics from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), excessive alcohol use is responsible for more than 95,000 deaths in the United States each year (source: CDC).

We propose that Las Vegas invest in initiatives to provide free water and ride shares to those who might have surpassed their alcohol consumption limits. This would ensure that people can hydrate properly to prevent blackouts, get a safe ride home, and consequently, cut down on the number of alcohol-induced injuries or worse.

Investing in such efforts is not only a public safety measure but also promotes a society in which everyone can enjoy Las Vegas' sparkling vivacity without fear of potential harm. Help us protect our beloved city's citizens and guests by signing this petition. Help us ensure that the wonder that is Las Vegas remains enchanting for all the right reasons.
