James Ohrenschall is an American politician and a Democratic member of the Nevada Senate, representing District 21 since November 7, 2018. He succeeded Mark Manendo in this role. Before his time in the Senate, Ohrenschall was a member of the Nevada Assembly from 2006 to 2018, taking over the position from his mother, Eugenia "Genie" Ohrenschall, who served from 1994 to 2006. As a lawyer and dedicated public servant, he also worked as a Deputy Public Defender. Ohrenschall holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics and a Juris Doctor from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. A graduate of Chaparral High School, he has long been an active member of the Democratic Party, advocating for his constituents in Nevada.
