In light of the most recent countrywide and worldwide protest for social justice for black people, it is painfully evident and abundantly clear that change has reached the front door of America in a big way.

As a teacher, I know first hand that the educational system in this country has also ignored black people, our real history and the overwhelming amount of positive contributions blacks have made to this country despite centuries of oppression.

Making Black History a required course in the State of Nevada's School System would be pioneering, monumental and edifying in changing the long held narrative, attitude and lack of respect for Black people in this country.
