Release of Non-Violent Minimum Custody Inmates in NV

Release of Non-Violent Minimum Custody Inmates in NV
The Issue
We the undersigned believe that during the financial crisis brought on by Covid 19, financial resources to the public are limited. Minimum Custody facilities like the Jean Conservation Camp have had their supply deliveries interrupted, and their non-DOC staff prevented from providing essential services, such as medical aid.
Non-violent offenders in minimum custody facilities have worked hard to be model inmates which has allowed them to be moved to these facilities due to good behavior and a willingness to turn their lives around and return to being a member of society.
These non-violent minimum custody inmates are now experiencing harsher penalties than major offenders in other facilities. By removing these non-violent inmates from these facilities would decrease the amount of funds spent on their incarceration AND that money could be better spent on a wider range of citizens by providing extended and emergency unemployment benefits which are urgently needed by the residents of Nevada.
Home arrest is a privileged which requires payment by the inmate, so rather than the State of Nevada paying for their penalty, the financial burden lies on the inmate or their family.
