The State of Michigan has had this law since 2019, so why isn’t this law, or even something much better not in every single state in the United States of America?

What exactly are you waiting for? More deaths. There is a proven link between domestic violence and animal abuse. This is mental abuse, coercive control.

Our dog was horrifically abused, and then euthanized by our abuser. If we had lived in Michigan our abuser would have been in prison, and then he couldn’t have harmed us anymore. 

It is your obligation as someone who can set the standard to improve upon domestic violence laws, because right now victims of abuse are not being helped properly.

It is not only about this law, but that our Courts fail the victims, and they are left struggle, homeless, and confused as to who will actually help them. It must be you who helps. You, and the Senators of every single state in America. If Michigan can have this law then so can they. Truthfully this law should be worldwide. 

You must pass this law as soon as possible. It’s 2023, and allowing 5 years to pass is disgraceful on your part. Ten years is a start, but fifteen would be better, and compensate the victims, so they don’t have to worry about struggling if they have made the right decision to leave their abuser.

You must protect all victims of abuse, and yes this definitely includes pets too. Please do not let another year pass by without you enacting this law. Right now you are failing victims of abuse.
